The film made $30.8 before its full release and immediately became the biggest preview winner of 2025.
Universal shared that this total came from several days of early showings instead of the usual single night plan.
The first wave of screenings began on Monday with special events supported by Amazon Prime and those brought in six point one million.
More early shows took place on Wednesday and added another six point five million.
The largest, however, jump came on Thursday when audiences packed theaters for double screenings of Wicked and Wicked For Good which created an eighteen point two million push.
Whereas, Superman held the previous preview record for 2025 with twenty two point five million from Thursday shows before opening with one hundred twenty five million.
Furthermore, experts believed the new film could open between one hundred fifty million and one hundred eighty million which placed it close to the strongest debut of the year.
A Minecraft Movie held that position with a one hundred sixty two million opening after earning ten point six million from previews.
Even with new excitement, Universal remained careful and mentioned weekend estimate of one hundred twenty five million.
Fans showed strong interest again in Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
For the unversed, the first Wicked movie made nineteen point two million in previews and reached one hundred twelve point five million across its opening weekend.
