Theo Von shuts down suicide rumors after New York walkout

Theo Von addressed fans after his weekend show in New York got his fans worried about his mental health.

The comedian was performing at the Beacon Theatre on Saturday night, where the event was supposed to be filmed for a stand-up special.

According to several people who attended, said that the set felt unprepared and uneven. Many described it as confusing and a number of the audience left the venue before it finished.

Afterward, a clip of Von circulated online where he told the crowd, “I’ve been having a long month. I’m trying not to take my own life.”

The line caused alarm and led to speculation that the comedian might be struggling.

The star later explained the comment on his podcast This Past Weekend, as he repeated several times, “I would never try to take my own life,” stressing that his words were not a real reflection of how he felt.

He further admitted the show hasn’t gone smoothly but said failure was part of the comedy process. “I eat failure for breakfast, brother. It’s part of the job,” he told listeners.

The comedy icon also shared that he was thankful for his family, friends and faith, adding that he wanted to focus on building a future and leaving a positive impact.

He is now getting new material and reports suggest his next stand-up hour could appear on Netflix.

At the same time, Von’s podcast continued to rise in popularity, recently reaching number two on Spotify’s global charts.
