Sydney Sweeney claps back at beauty standards with fearless energy

Sydney Sweeney shared that she wants to inspire women to feel confident and proud of themselves, no matter what others think.

The 28-year-old actress said people often see her as a sex symbol, but that image doesn’t truly reflect who she is.

Speaking to Variety, Sydney explained that people assume that they know her because of the bold characters she plays.

“I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t,” she said.

“So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’”

The Euphoria actress added that she hopes her confidence encourages other women to “flaunt what they got” and feel comfortable in their own skin.

“You shouldn’t have to apologise or hide or cover up in any room,” the star continued.

However, the Christy star also spoke about the challenges of being a woman in Hollywood, explaining how she constantly reminds herself of her own worth.

“Being an actress, it’s a lot harder to stand in the room and demand your worth. I have to remind myself like, ‘Hey, Syd, you’re actually powerful. Stand up a little taller.’”

Although she has become one of Hollywood’s most talked-about stars, the actress admitted that she is still learning to balance fame and privacy.

Moreover, Sydney said she wants people to know her as a person while keeping parts of her life peaceful and private.
