Ryan Reynolds used unlikely tactic against Justin Baldoni before Blake Lively’s lawsuit?

Ryan Reynolds seemingly poked fun at Justin Baldoni, way before his wife Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us costar/director.

As reported by Daily Mail, the Jane the Virgin alum’s attorney Bryan Freedman, in an interview with The Megyn Kelly Show claimed that the 48-year-old Deadpool actor “used his power and influence to create a Deadpool & Wolverine character parodying Baldoni”.

“What Ryan Reynolds has seemingly done is use his power and influence on Deadpool and to make fun of Justin Baldoni,” the attorney began.

Host Kelly played a clip of Reynold’s latest movie’s Nicepool character, who wore a manbun style Baldoni has past worn, and had dialogue referencing an affinity for social activism, as well as Lively’s Ladypool character and her pregnancy and then asked Freedman what he made of it.

To which, the lawyer responded, “What I make of that is that if your wife is sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of Justin Baldoni; you don’t make fun of the situation – you take it very seriously.”

Freedman further elaborated it, saying, “What you don’t do is mock the person and turn it into a joke.”

The lawyer further added, “If someone is sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of it – it’s a serious issue.”

Freedman said that traits shown by the Nicepool character was a clear joke at Baldoni’s expense in an effort to humiliate the actor-director, referring to the hair bun and the comment about the pregnancy.

For the unversed, Blake Lively first filed a complaint against her It Ends With Us costar, accusing sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign to ruin the actress’ image in public.

Meanwhile, Justin Baldoni’s attorneys denied the allegations and on December 31, 2024, the actor-director also filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times over the newspaper’s article about Lively’s complaint.
