Prince Harry seeks fair security measures amid legal appeal: ‘shocked’

Prince Harry has expressed concerns over being treated less favourably than other VIPs regarding his security arrangements during UK visits.

In a recent legal appeal, the Duke of Sussex highlighted discrepancies in how the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) has handled his protection compared to others.

During a closed court session, Harry’s legal team pointed out that RAVEC had conducted ongoing Risk Management Board(RMB) analyses for individuals categorised under the ‘Other VIP Category,’ granting them consistent protective security.

In contrast, Harry’s security was determined on a case-by-case basis, which he argued lacked a proper or rational basis.

Following the hearing, Prince Harry stated in an interview with the Telegraph, ‘People would be shocked by what’s being held back,’ indicating that his worst fears were confirmed during the private proceedings.

The Duke has previously emphasised the heightened risks he faces, citing ‘additional layers of racism and extremism’ and asserting that his family confronts as ‘international threat.’

He believes that the current security measure are inadequate for ensuring their safety. The Home Office, responsible for RAVEC’s decisions, maintains that the current security arrangements are appropriate. A written decision on the appeal is anticipated in the coming weeks.
