Cate Blanchett shares her mischievously ‘dangerous’ childhood hobby

Cate Blanchett revealed her amusing yet troubling hobby as she looked back at her childhood.

The Tár star made an appearance on the The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her upcoming film, Black Bag

During the interview she also talked about her childhood past-time activity, “I was obsessed with Candid Camera.”

“So I used to do these candid radio things where I would record my parents having arguments or adults saying things that they didn’t want other people to hear,” she explained.

Her playfulness wasn’t just limited to candid radio, as the Disclaimer actress admitted she didn’t keep the recordings to herself. “I guess you could call it spying,” she said.

“But then what I would do, is I would write them down and say, ‘Mom! Dad! Uncle Geoff! Do you want to come and see a play?’ And I’d put it on, and I would re-enact verbatim the arguments that they’d have.”

Blanchett further admitted that her family was always perplexed and disturbed by her performances.

“It’s truly troubling,” she said. “But it was so, it was kind of really dangerous, but really exciting.”

Her upcoming movie is slated for release on March 14th, 2025.
