As Eid ul Adha approaches, a colossal bull named “JF-17 Thunder,” weighing an astonishing 1,600 kilogrammes, has become the talk of Liaquat Colony, Hyderabad, following its sale for a staggering Rs5 million.

This magnificent sacrificial animal has drawn significant attention, with citizens flocking from far and wide to catch a glimpse and snap selfies. Cattle trader Shahrukh, the bull’s former owner, orchestrated a grand farewell for JF-17 Thunder.

The departure was marked by a festive procession, complete with decorations and entertainment for the buyer and their entourage.

In a display of cultural camaraderie, guests and hosts exchanged garlands of notes and flowers, and presented each other with traditional ajrak.

The sale of the massive bull for such a significant sum highlights the immense value placed on prime sacrificial animals ahead of Eid ul Adha.

While the impressive size and price of JF-17 Thunder have captured the public imagination, the true essence of sacrifice, as emphasised by religious scholars, lies in piety and seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty.

It is this spirit, they remind us, that ensures a sacrifice is accepted in the divine court.
